I began my career as a junior high school teacher with English and history as my subject matter. I loved it , although I’m not quite sure if the kids educated me or I educated the kids. However, after a while, I decided to spread my wings and try my hand in the business world. I eventually went back to college again and this time majored in business and personnel management. After graduating with honors, I became a recruiter and personnel administrator. I loved this job as well.
When my husband took an early retirement, I quit my full-time job. I soon found that I needed something to keep me busy beside just cooking and cleaning (not my favorite things). I went back to college, yet again, and took classes in interior design. That led to starting my first business as a buying service for furniture and accessories. While primarily helping residential customers, I did help a few businesses decorate their offices. That led to attending gift and craft shows to find the right items for their offices. From there, I began buying other items that caught my eye as well. I was like a kid in a candy store—wanting everything that I saw at the shows!
As an outcome of attending the gift shows, I got involved with Ty beanies when they were just starting to become popular. Then the craze hit and I got hooked on the world of gifts and collectibles. Gifts By Small Fry began.
From these early beginnings, I moved into the world of Disney (my passion) and movie collectibles. I now have, as you will see, a variety of gifts and collectibles to sell as my curiosity and interests ever change and grow. I have met many fabulous people along the way. I particularly love art in all of its forms and will continue to grow in this area. I HAVE A BIG EYE FOR A SMALL FRY!
Regardless of how I evolve, Disney will always be a major area of concentration. Tinker Bell, in particular, will always take a spotlight since the original Disney live reference model for Tinker Bell, Margaret Kerry, is a dear friend.
I never want to be a big company. I want to have fun, offer personalized service and make people happy with my gifts. I hope you enjoy my site and remember that “bigger isn’t always better.” Good things do indeed come in small packages!!!
