Virginia Davis is officially recognized by Disney Studios as Disney's first star. In fact, in l998 she was presented with a Disney Legend Award.
In l923-1925 Virginia Davis starred in the "Alice Comedies" which was the first time live action was combined with cartoon characters. Walt Disney directed the films and his brother, Roy Disney, filmed them. Virginia starred in the first 13 of the "Alice Comedies". In fact, the first one was filmed in her mother's house!
This is an 11" by 14" promotional print of one of the "Alice Comedies." The actual image size is 8 1/2" by 13 1/2". ( Please note, the print is quite clear. My photography is not.) This print was entitled, "Alice in the Jungle by Walt Disney." Virginia Davis has autographed the print with her name and then underneath that has written, "Alice" of the Alice Comedies l923-25." This is an original autograph and comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by me. I obtained the autograph directly from Virginia, who is a real delight!
I have framed the print in a classic, quality black frame with an acid free backing board behind the print to protect it.
