This is a wonderful, composite piece of singer, Al Jolson. It consists of an 8" x 10" black and white photo of Al Jolson, plus his signature in black ink saying, "Yours Truly, Al Jolson," on a very pale lime green sheet of paper approximately 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" in size. The paper has a single fold mark down the center of the paper but is does not detract at all from the signature. The photo and signature have been matted together to an 12" x 16" size in a elegant, gray, woven linen outer mat with a black inner mat. The signature is double- matted in an octagonal cutout which is very attractive while the photo is matted in a regular rectangular shape.
Mr. Jolson is considered the "World's Greatest Entertainer" by many. He immigrated into the US with his family at the age of five, and by the time he was sixteen, he was performing in burlesque in New York City. He was an active entertainer until his death in 1950 at the age of sixty-four. He is best known for his role in the first full-length "talkie" The Jazz Singer.
